Upcoming Scenarios Update


–Hello!– Hey everyone! I have been working hard in response to the feedback the 1.7 build of TOWID received and I am happy to announce the Scenarios Update. This update focuses on a core aspect of all dungeon crawlers: Risk vs Reward. Before, the game pretty much gave you everything. You just kept getting items without an risk. Now that’s about to change.

–Scenarios– This new feature introduces an element of risk vs reward to the game. Every time you move to the next floor, there is a chance that you will come upon a scenario. A text box will appear telling you what scenario is happening whether it be a devil drug dealer coming to sell you crack or a peaceful library that you can rest in. There is an image to accompany the text as well to add to the overall feel of the game. The player is then given 2 choices on how to react in the scenario.

For example: “As you walk down some steps to the next level, you see a small door to your left. You open it and go inside. There is a shining idol standing on a podium. It radiates a dangerous but rewarding aura.” The two options would then be to either leave or to take the item. Taking the item will lead to great rewards but have a large drawback e.g. losing max health, damage etc.

I am really happy with this update so far and I feel like this feature fits the game very well.

–Other– On another note, lighting has been changed. Now enemies no longer have lighting around them, the players light is bigger and the darkness is much darker. This makes the lighting an actual gameplay element now, rather than just something to look nice as enemies are now much harder to see.

Items now spawn in random locations and only have a 70% chance to spawn on a floor. The player now must hit the action button in order to pick up an item.

The game also has a new font. Playtesters noted that the previous fond had an odd mic of capital letters and small letters so it has been changed to a new, larger, more readable font that looks much better.

Critical hits are now far more likely to happen, making items related to crits be much more worthwhile.

A new song for the shop has been implemented.

There have also been many bug fixes.
